Present Company is proud to collaborate with artist Alejandro Almanza Pereda on Fine words butter no parsnips however fine parsnips can butter words. The group exhibition features national and international artists working in sculpture, installation, photography and mixed media, and opens alongside the artist’s solo exhibition at Y Gallery (New York).
Conceived as a selection of artists that are both influential to Almanza Pereda’s neo-Arte Povera practice and in conversation with Present Company’s curatorial program, the fifteen artists in the exhibition signify a loose community of practitioners working with humble materials to guide ideas to fantastical ends. Fine words butter no parsnips however fine parsnips can butter words also aptly suggests that the artist’s intrinsic role in pushing the limitations of what forms and images can do, often imploding and upending them, is a language more translatable than words and concepts alone.
