Tyler GAID students sweep PGW medallion competition!
PWD and the Mural Arts Program sponsored "Uncover the Green", a design competition that invited local college students to design the new medallion for our city's green stormwater infrastructure as well as a new look for Philadelphia's manhole covers. The new designs will help the Water Department raise awareness about the new tools in our neighborhoods and inspire residents to uncover the benefits of green stormwater infrastructure.
Tyler GAID students in Paul Sheriff's Sophomore design class and Kelly Holohan's Typography course participated in the challenge. Eight finalists were selected from 42 submissions from colleges in the Philadelphia area. All eight finalists were from Tyler's GAID program!
The finalists were juried by Maskar Design, Cloud Gehshan Associates, Community Design Collaborative, The Public Workshop, Partnership for Delaware Estuary, Office of Arts, Culture & Creative Economy, Mayor’s Office of Sustainability, Fairmount Water Works and the Philadelphia Water Department staff.
The top 3 awards went to : Lauren Hoover (first place), Brooke Davis (2nd place) and Melissa Walsh (3rd place). See the winning design on PWD's blog. www.phillywatersheds.org/uncover-green-winner-announced And images from the awards ceremony here.
