Yes, and…: Enlivening the Classroom With Quick Contemporary Art Activities
Tyler's Art Education and Community Arts Practices Department is headed to the 2016 National Art Education Association Conference in Chicago! A number of professors and students will be presenting, and this week we're highlighting Professor Wendy Osterweil.
Professor Wendy Osterweil of the Art Education department will present a workshop called "Yes, and…: Enlivening the Classroom With Quick Contemporary Art Activities", on Thursday, March 17th from 4 - 5:50 PM at the National Art Education Association Conference in Chicago, IL. This workshop will encourage K-12 teachers, post-secondary educators, preservice teachers, and museum educators to participate in quick, arts-based activities that engage with contemporary art and open creative pathways to learning. Professor Osterweil seeks to help teachers learn how to reinvigorate their students by moving, acting, and creating mixed-media visual artwork. Participants will ollaborate, plan, and teach their own activities, enlivening their artmaking/teaching toolbox to share with their students. With this workshop, Professor Osterweil wants to reawaken improvisation by showing how to say “yes, and,” rather than “no, but.”
