Author: issarevell

Recent Tyler alum Jamie Forslund (M.Ed. '15) presented at the 2016 National Art Education Association Conference in Chicago, IL! This presentation discussed her current research conducted in Philadelphia area public high schools. Forslund observed and interviewed art teachers and high school English Language Learner students in order to better understand the needs of ELL students, the needs of art teachers, and how both parties can be better served. The information gleaned from the study helped attendees gain perspective on how ELL students fit into the culture of a high school art classroom and learn how to provide scaffolding to contribute to the teaching skills needed to address this growing and vital population.
