Lisa Kay, Associate Professor and Program Head of Art Therapy has been reappointed as Department Chair of Art Education & Community Arts Practices (AECAP) for a second three-year term through the academic year 2022–23. As chair, Kay has helped reshape the MEd program by emphasizing the identities of the artist-, educator- and arts-based researcher; developed the Art Therapy Program—one of the few undergraduate programs in the United States situated in an art and architecture school within an urban public university—and continued to expand Community Arts Practices to offer socially-engaged art that emphasizes both the creative object and its social implications.

In 2003, Lolly Tai, PhD, RLA, FASLA and professor of landscape architecture at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, Temple University was named a First Asian American Pacific Islander female ASLA Fellow by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), the professional association for landscape architects in the United States, to honor her vital contributions to the field.

From October 9–November 10, 2019, numerous alumni as well as current and former faculty of the Tyler School of Art and Architecture will be featured in a monumental exhibition, Philadelphia: Then and Now 1950–2019, presenting works from more than 50 Philadelphia-based craft artists from the last seven decades.Bertrand Productions, in collaboration with Helen Drutt (BFA '52), Matthew Drutt and Globe Dye Works, will include 14 emerging and mid-career artists as well as more than 40 historic works in various craft media by artists celebrated in their field.
