    Tyler Almuna Jennifer Packer Receives Greenfield Prize

    Tyler School of Art and Architecture alumna Jennifer Packer (BFA ‘07) has been selected as the  2020 Greenfield Prize recipient from a competitive pool of well-established artists. The prestigious prize consists of a $30,000 commission and a residency at the Hermitage Artist Retreat. Packer joins a distinguished group of artists to receive this prize, including another Tyler alum, Trenton Doyle Hancock (MFA ‘00). Read More

    Tyler Alumna, Christa DiMarco, wins Art History Award

    Tyler School of Art and Architecture Art History alumna Christa DiMarco (MA ‘07, PhD, ‘15) has been awarded the Nineteenth Century Studies Association (NCSA) President's Award, which honors members who have contributed in extraordinary ways to both the Nineteenth Century Studies Association and to scholarship in interdisciplinary 19th-century studies.     Tyler Alumna Patricia Renee Thomas’s Solo Show

    Tyler School of Art and Architecture alumna Patricia Renee Thomas (BFA ‘17) is featured in her solo show, “Grapejuice,” at Kapp Kapp gallery in Philadelphia, which is currently closed due to the COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) pandemic. The exhibition, inspired by Thomas’s experience getting her hair done as a child and focuses more widely on “the self in the form of preparation, and the form of preservation, and the form of performance, especially as a black woman,” will be extended once the gallery reopens.  Read More

    Tyler Glass alumnus builds “House of Learning” at local synagogue

    Eight decades after his grandfather fled Nazi Germany and his family’s beloved synagogue was destroyed during the terrors of Kristallnacht, Tyler Glass alumnus Dan Ostrov (MFA ’08) has helped construct a suite of new, one-of-a-kind furniture for the Beit Midrash, or “house of learning,” at Kohelet Yeshiva, a Modern Orthodox K-12 school near Philadelphia in Merion Station, Pennsylvania.  Read More

    Tyler alumni and faculty featured in an exhibition of visionary Philadelphia craft artists from the last 70 years

    From October 9–November 10, 2019, numerous alumni as well as current and former faculty of the Tyler School of Art and Architecture will be featured in a monumental exhibition, Philadelphia: Then and Now 1950–2019, presenting works from more than 50 Philadelphia-based craft artists from the last seven decades.Bertrand Productions, in collaboration with Helen Drutt (BFA '52), Matthew Drutt and Globe Dye Works, will include 14 emerging and mid-career artists as well as more than 40 historic works in various craft media by artists celebrated in their field.     Tyler alumnus creates mural with Philadelphia high school students to enhance community

    In spring 2019, Tyler School of Art and Architecture Community Development alumnus Jon Fiamoncini (BSCD ‘19) helped create a mural and garden at Philadelphia’s George Washington Carver High School of Engineering and Science (GWC), with the help of students and generous donors.“Originally, I’d been assigned the task of assisting a group of GWC students with a community engagement project through my Placemaking: Revitalizing Urban Communities class at Tyler,” Fiamoncini said. After the class ended, he continued to volunteer at GWC. That’s when plans were discussed for the creation of a mural and garden. Read More
