Alpesh has received two research grants for his book project, which explores the conceptual overlaps among glass as a material, “trans” as a prefix, and decolonial theories: a British Paul Mellon Centre research grant to study the glass works (some of which incorporate lethal gas) of British-Pakistani Hamad Bhutt, who died of AIDS in the early 1990s, and a Danish Arts Foundation research grant to meet artists who take a decolonial thematic approach to glassblowing and other artmaking practices. Alpesh is currently on leave working on this book project.
And, Alpesh was appointed to the Editorial Advisory Committee for Getty Research Journal.

Michael was accepted into the Title VIII Combined Research & Language Training (CRLT) Program and awarded a fellowship for his dissertation research in Azerbaijan. Included in the grant is funding for language instruction to further his Azerbaijani and Russian language skills while there. The Title VIII CRLT Fellowship is awarded by the U.S. Department of State's Bureau of Intelligence & Research and administered through American Councils for International Education.

Jane DeRose Evans, chair of Tyler's Art History Department was elected as the next President of the American Society of Overseas Research (ASOR) by its Board of Trustees. She will serve as the President-elect during 2025, shadowing current President Sharon Herbert, and will work on developing ASOR’s strategic plan that is set to begin in 2026. Jane will step into her three-year term as President of ASOR in 2026.

Students in Tyler Assistant Professor Joseph Kopta's art history class on the art of the Byzantine Empire have launched a virtual exhibition, Fragments of Byzantium. The collaborative project features works of art from the Eastern Roman Empire (ca. 300—1453 CE), which students studied in person at local collections in Philadelphia and New York. The class collaboratively chose the objects for the exhibition, individually researched them, grouped them together into galleries, and designed the virtual exhibition. Contributors include Miranda Aebersold-Burke, Ethan Bisselberg, Jay DaCruz, Virginia Edwards, Casper McNew, Maggie Miller, Evan Morgans, Winton Petty, Teni Real, and Jericho Steele.
