A Close-Knit School with a Big Impact
At Tyler, students across all majors engage in creative exploration and critical inquiry. Our students build core skills, collaborate across disciplines, and apply what they learn to shape their work and the world around them. With guidance from dedicated faculty and access to world-class facilities, Tyler students grow with purpose, expanding their perspectives, deepening their practice, and preparing to make a meaningful impact.
“I don’t know always what my students are going to study after their first year (and neither do they!), but we build a connection to images and ideas through drawing that lasts for years…and when I see them later in their majors, we still connect over drawing.”

Gerard Brown
Associate Professor, Foundations and Painting
“It's ok to not know what you want your focus to be as soon as you enter Tyler. Our school offers a cross-disciplinary education and all the faculty in every department are interested in the students being supported and making what they truly want to make, and highly encourage experimentation.”

Feather Chiaverini
Program Coordinator and Adjunct Instructor, MFA '22

A Transformative Education
Sera Park’s (BS ’24, Art History and Economics) Temple Rome Entry Year experience changed her career path, and went on to intern in the conservation lab at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
“I don’t think I’d have chosen this field if I hadn’t studied abroad,” said Park, who originally wanted to work in an art auction house. “My professors and friends know how passionate I am about art conservation. That wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t been exposed to the field in Rome.”
