Brianna Hutchins is a first-year Art History M.A. student in the Arts Management track. Her research interests are primarily focused on portrayals of death and dying in queer and feminist contemporary art. In her future career, she aims to create spaces for highlighting work by the Queer community, women, and people of color. She is passionate about fostering community spaces where art can be made more accessible.
Brianna completed her B.A. in History in 2023 at Rhode Island College, where she also studied Art History, Archaeology, and Public History. She is the recipient of the 2023 Herbert & Claiborne Pell Medal of American History, in addition to the Excellence in History award. She graduated Summa Cum Laude with departmental honors, college honors, and general education honors. Her B.A. Honors thesis Everyday Life of the Soviet Proletariat: 1920s-1930s is available at the Rhode Island College Adams Library.
In between her undergraduate and graduate programs, Brianna primarily served as the Programming Coordinator for the municipal cemeteries of Providence, RI, where she also served as Interim Director. Brianna has experience working in various archives as a digitization specialist and intern.
