Courtney Spencer is an educator, designer, and entrepreneur. Throughout her career she has led through an empathetic lens and an agile approach. She is committed to bringing her passion for quality creative and curiosity for emerging technology to Tyler’s community.
As Assistant Professor in the D+I department, at Tyler School of Art and Architecture, she teaches design courses and is helping build the new UX major. A Tyler graduate herself, she has taught interactive and design courses at Tyler for eight years, including interactive design and design systems.
She started her career designing on Anthropologie’s product team where she designed the website, app, and created the URBN design system. Additionally, she was an early hire at Bumble where she drove the growth strategy in Philadelphia. Later, she joined Think Company where she was a UIUX designer for leading clients including Comcast and Korn Ferry.
After years of UIUX design, she took on a leadership role as Global Head of Design at Anheuser-Busch InBev's innovation group, ZX Ventures. During this time, she managed the design strategy for 10+ global DTC brands, oversaw for 100+ designers, and was responsible for key design success metrics for the portfolio’s overall performance.
In 2021, she started Dear Fellow, a design firm that offered growth design services to clients including Peloton, Team USA, and Aavrani (As seen in Sephora). Over five years, she built a 20-person team of designers, engineers, and strategists spanning across three time zones. The studio's work earned recognition from Graphis and Awwwards and was featured in Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and on ABC's Shark Tank.
You can catch her on the weekends searching for the best matcha in the city, playing pickleball, and hiking with her husband and great dane rescue.
