Emerson Elliott

MA Student Art History

Emerson is a first-year MA student with an ambition to study Islamic art and architecture. They are specifically interested in the sacred architecture of Al-Andalus and representation of Convivencia in the arts of medieval Iberia. Their research has primarily focused on the negotiation of power, religious expression, and identity in the architecture and decoration of sacred and secular structures in late medieval Andalusia.

Emerson earned their BA in Art History from the University of South Florida. Prior to coming to Temple, Emerson worked as a coordinator in USF Libraries’ Special Collections. Their work with processing, preservation, and digital accessibility has informed their interest in historiography and digital humanities.
