Nathaniel Wells

MA Student Art History

Nathaniel Wells (he/him) is a first year MA Art History student in the research track, with a focus on Western Medieval art. His studies center on the ways that artworks surrounding holy sites affect the medieval experiences of pilgrimage. While his prior studies were localized to Canterbury, England, he plans to research the power of religious sites across the world.

Prior to coming to Temple, Wells graduated with his BA in Art History and minor in French from Brigham Young University’s Honors Program, culminating in the publication of his thesis, “Becket and Bolingbroke: Conflicting Crowns in Canterbury” in August 2026, which received a research grant. He worked as both a curatorial fellow and as a registration assistant at the BYU Museum of Art in Provo, Utah from 2023-2026 and currently teaches art history at Mercer County Community College.
