CRITICAL DIALOGUES SERIES- ANNIE GOSFIELD

How my music traveled 5 miles uptown against traffic from Downtown to Lincoln Center”

Annie Gosfield’s music has been performed worldwide at Warsaw Autumn, the Bang on a Can Marathon, MATA, MaerzMusik, the Venice Biennale, OtherMinds, Lincoln Center, The Stone, The Miller Theatre, and The Kitchen. Recent work includes compositions inspired by factory environments, jammed radio signals from WWII, and her grandparents’ immigrant experiences in New York City during the industrial revolution. Annie's discography includes four solo releases on the Tzadik label. She often writes on the compositional process for the New York Times’ series “The Score.” Gosfield held the Darius Milhaud chair of composition at Mills College, and has taught at Princeton University and California Institute of the Arts. Current projects include a work for electronics and string quartet to be premiered by the JACK Quartet in December in New York City; a new band project with drummer Billy Martin, guitarist Roger Kleier, and brass trio “Wicked Knee;” a developing collaboration based on radio transmissions in the cold war with historians in the Czech Republic; and residencies at Robert Wilson’s Watermill Center and at the Agosto Foundation in Prague.
