Lead, Inspire, Hope: A Trauma-informed Art Education

Tyler's Art Education and Community Arts Practices Department is headed to the 2016 National Art Education Association conference in Chicago! A number of professors and students will be presenting, and today we're highlighting one of the many lectures and workshops Dr. Lisa Kay will be leading.

Dr. Lisa Kay (Assistant Professor in Art Education) will present a lecture titled: "Lead, Inspire, Hope: A Trauma-informed Art Education" on Friday March 18, 2016 at the National Art Education Association Conference in Chicago, IL.  This presentation will discuss adolescents’ psychological/behavioral reactions to trauma; introduce five key elements of trauma-informed art education; and the basic tenets of a trauma-informed creative arts curriculum for adolescents. Art making themes, art interventions, and examples of visual and poetic narratives of inspiration and hope will be offered.
