Place, Design, and the Study Sketch Drawing Workshop
Tyler School of Art and Architecture is pleased to offer weekly drawing workshops tailored to students working at the intersection of place and design who wish to develop their sketching abilities. Workshops are offered weekly from September 7 - October 26, 2022, and will be held in Tyler 230E, in the Foundations Suite.
The sketch has a long history in the design of place, and while the important role of digital technologies in contemporary design cannot be denied, sketching remains a critical skill to help envision, advance, and assess creative design possibilities.
These drawing workshops will introduce to you skills you can use to to elevate your understanding of sites, explore design solutions, and develop design details. You will gain an understanding of sketching as an essential tool for developing richer, more engaged design projects, and increase your ability to advance ideas through quickly composed drawings.
Sessions will include demonstration and work time on sketching techniques with pencil, colored pencil, watercolor, and collage, as well as different applications for those techniques.
Workshops are held on Wednesday evenings from 5:30 - 7:00 pm.
Each workshop is 90-minutes.
Pre-registration is required; enrollment is limited to 15 students per session.
Students may sign up for as many sessions as they wish; instruction is not linear.
