Urban Workshop Symposium: Community-Engaged Design, Research and Pedagogy

The Urban Workshop of the Tyler School of Art and Architecture is an interdisciplinary initiative of faculty from the Architecture and Environmental Design who are committed to collaborative place-centered research and creative practice with underserved communities. Our process is community-engaged, weaving together expertise in our various disciplines with the knowledge and aspirations of our community partners, building shared knowledge and vision for environments that are beautiful, just and sustainable.

The symposium provides a forum for the Urban Workshop’s members and community partners to share their work in architecture, planning, building, and scholarship and to open a conversation on the future of community-engaged design, design research and pedagogy at Tyler and Temple focusing on the opportunities and challenges for these urban initiatives in Philadelphia and beyond.
