Helpful Application Process Information

Transcripts

All students must submit transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities before the program deadline. Tyler Admissions requests that you submit official transcripts directly from the institution electronically to tyleradmissions@temple.edu. If your institution is unable to send transcripts electronically, please contact us to make other arrangements.

Transcripts sent to Temple University will experience significant internal delays. Transcripts are not considered received until they arrive at Tyler’s Office of Admissions, so please make sure to designate Tyler as the recipient.

Supplemental Items

Required supplemental items will automatically populate on your application checklist after you submit the application and pay the fee. With the exception of the portfolio, which is required by some programs, all additional materials must be submitted through the “Supplemental Items” section in the application.

Test Scores

Test scores, if required, should be submitted directly to Temple before the program deadline by the testing agency, and must have been completed in the last five years. This includes the GRE, MAT, TOEFL and IELTS. We cannot accept paper copies of tests.

GRE and GMAT testing requirements are optional for applicants to Tyler's MA Art History, PhD Art History, Master of Architecture, MEd Art Education, MS Architecture, MS City and Regional Planning, MS Facilities Planning, MLArch Landscape Architecture programs.

Applicants may voluntarily submit GRE test scores, but they will only be used as a supplement to required application materials. MFA applicants are not required to submit GRE or GMAT scores. All other requirements will still need to be met.

In some circumstances, the Graduate Admissions Committee may request additional supplemental application materials or an interview as part of the admissions process. Applicants from countries where English is not the first language will be required to submit proof of English Proficiency,

More on required academic materials including accepted proof of English proficiency test scores can be found on the Temple Graduate School website.

Portfolio - Required for MFA, MEd, MArch and Architecture programs

Portfolios must be submitted via Temple SlideRoom. Portfolio requirements vary across programs. Please visit the Graduate Bulletin for portfolio and other admissions information for your specific program of interest. Please note that portfolios are manually updated to your application checklist as received. Allow 3 - 5 business days for your account to reflect receipt.

International Students

A National Association of Credential Evaluation Services or a World Education Services evaluation is recommended. Transcripts that do not come from an evaluation agency must be translated internally, which adds significant processing time. Students submitting transcripts directly from their home institution should do so electronically, six weeks prior to the application deadline and contact Tyler Admissions to coordinate submission. Learn more about applying as an international student.
