Architecture and Environmental Design Career Fair   

Each spring, our annual Architecture and Environmental Design Career Fair brings together more than 40 leading firms. Students from all built environment programs at Tyler are encouraged to attend, make connections and explore career opportunities with potential employers.

Professional Women in Construction Panel

Tyler hosts a panel every year in partnership with the Philadelphia Chapter of Professional Women in Construction (PWC), spotlighting women in the construction industry as they share their career paths, experiences, and insights. This event offers an inspiring atmosphere for professional development and network building with construction industry professionals across all stages of their careers.

Alternative Career Paths Panel

This annual event features alumni and professionals who have taken their creative degrees in unexpected directions. Panelists share how their education helped them thrive in industries beyond traditional creative roles. After the panel, students can meet one-on-one with speakers for resume feedback, conversation, and networking.

Graduate Students Roundtable

The annual Graduate Students Roundtable invites a guest speaker to join architecture students for an informal exchange of ideas focused on the latest trends in design practice, employment insights, and authentic connections in our work and the design of cities and communities.

Architecture Professional Mentorship Program

The Professional Mentorship Program pairs architecture graduate students and undergraduate seniors in the 4+1 program with professionals in the field for one-on-one mentorship. You’ll receive counsel on career exploration, professional skill-building and networking under the guidanceof a practicing professional. The program is designed to support your continued growth in the field, deepen your connection with experienced peer mentors, and expand your professional network.

Beyond the Classroom

Tyler hosts regularly scheduled professional and career development workshops to help you build interview skills, strengthen your resume, and expand your professional network. Through hands-on sessions, workshops and presentations, you will:

Build a professional portfolio and resume

Whether you're applying for a job, to the graduate program of your dreams, or simply presenting yourself to the world, an outstanding portfolio is crucial. At these workshops, you'll engage in one-on-one discussions with experienced professionals and faculty who offer tailored advice and insights on your portfolio. This is a chance to receive constructive criticism and explore new perspectives that can enhance your architectural presentations and prepare you for future endeavors.

Connect with industry experts

All students are encouraged to attend networking events, career panels, lecture series and more to connect with industry experts. Engaging with professionals provides insights into real-world practices, design trends, and can open doors to internships and job opportunities.

Build your professional network

Attend a variety of panels and events with professionals to gain insights into career paths and get guidance about licensure, the architectural experience program (AXP) and Architect Registration Examination (ARE) and other professional trajectories.

Internship Support 

The Architecture and Environmental Design department offers robust support to help you prepare for and secure internships that align with your goals and interests.

Faculty and advisors are available to offer guidance, review materials, and help you connect with potential internship sites. Our students have recently interned with organizations including:

You’ll have plenty of opportunities to participate in hands-on, practical learning beyond the classroom. Professional Studio Workshops

Studio visits offer a unique chance to explore professional design environments and see how concepts become reality. Through tours, staff presentations and Q&A sessions, you'll gain firsthand insight into daily workflows, tools and collaboration in practice. These visits connect classroom learning to real-world applications, offering valuable exposure to career paths, design disciplines and creative workplace culture.

Urban Workshop

Urban Workshop is an interdisciplinary research and design group that works with underserved communities to create healthier, more vibrant and resilient places. It brings together students, faculty and community partners to tackle key issues in the built environment. Through a collaborative process, we use creative research and design methods to develop architectural and landscape designs, neighborhood plans and installations that reflect community goals and aspirations.
