Admission to Tyler’s Architecture and Environmental Design programs, which open up a range of pre-professional tracks, is based on a review of academic credentials.

If you are interested in applying to one the following disciplines, you should select “Architecture Undeclared” as the title of your major:

  • Architecture
  • Facilities Management
  • Historic Preservation
  • Landscape Architecture*
  • Community Development*

* You can enter these programs through “Architecture Undeclared.” You can also apply directly into Landscape Architecture and Community Development.

Students with previous credits in architecture from other institutions may be considered for admission with advanced standing based on portfolio review and evaluation of credits and coursework. Architecture transfer students who have taken studio courses must submit a portfolio for transfer studio credit evaluation. A portfolio is not required for admissions consideration otherwise. Placement in the program will be reviewed by Tyler’s Transfer Committee.

During the review, the Transfer Committee will determine if the applicant is admissible into the program and will also review which studio credits are transferable to Tyler. The number of studio credits we accept will also determine their studio year (placement).

A portfolio is required for assessment of studio coursework. Images must be uploaded to Temple Slideroom. SlideRoom charges a one-time $10 fee for this service.

Fall transfer students wishing to compete for portfolio-based scholarships must submit a self-portrait and statement of purpose as described in the scholarship application

Tip: Do not send portfolio materials or original work through the mail. These will not be accepted and will not be reviewed or returned.
