AED Presents: Blossom at Bartram - Reimagining a Neighborhood of Choice in Southwest Philadelphia

Philadelphia Housing Authority and its partners are ten years into planning and implementing neighborhood change in Southwest Philadelphia centered around one of the largest reimagination of public housing in our city in a generation. Join this panel presentation and discussion to see what the next ten years will look like.

Speakers:

Woo Kim, AICP, LEED AP, Principal, WRT Planning and Design

Woo Kim is a principal in WRT’s planning and urban design practice. His work is focused primarily on neighborhood revitalization and the redevelopment of equitable communities. To date, he has planned for the development of thousands of affordable housing units nationwide, and has transformed communities large and small. He is adept at reaching minority/immigrant population groups, and building community capacity and trust.

Andrew Meloney, AICP, Choice Neighborhoods Director, Philadelphia Housing Authority

Andrew Meloney is the Director of Choice Neighborhoods at the Philadelphia Housing Authority, where he oversees the implementation and planning for HUD’s public housing and neighborhood revitalization program in Philadelphia. Meloney is passionate about public service and strives to improve the lives of the citizens of Philadelphia with his work. Previously, he worked at the City of Philadelphia’s Department of Planning and Development for twelve years. While at DPD he managed a team of planners working to implement the recommendations of the Phila2035 Comprehensive Plan with policy, legislation, and project management. Before that, he worked as a GIS and Real Estate Development Analyst at the Reinvestment Fund and as a GIS Specialist for the Philadelphia Department of Records. He has a degree in Geography and Planning from West Chester University and is an American Planning Association Certified Planner.

Makeeda Holley, EVP Resident Programs and Partnerships, Philadelphia Housing Authority

Makeeda Holley is the Executive Vice President of Resident Programs and Partnerships at the Philadelphia Housing Authority. With over 15 years' experience in workforce development she brings a resident centered approach to self sufficiency and community development. Holley values partnerships and is passionate about leveraging resources to develop comprehensive programming to meet the needs of Philadelphians. Holley comes to PHA from District 1199C Training & Upgrading Fund where she served as Director of Workforce Development for 8 years. Prior to joining 1199C, she worked for PHI (Paraprofessional Healthcare Institute) managing the Center for Coaching Supervision and Leadership. She has an MS from the New School University in New York and a BSW from Temple University. She is a graduate of the Aspen Institute's Sector Skills Academy and Penn State's Labor Leadership Institute.
