Architecture Lecture-Flavio Janches
Flavio Janches is a practicing architect, researcher, and professor of Architecture and Urban Design at the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina. He received his Ph.D. in Architecture at TU Delft, The Netherlands, in 2015, and previously a Diploma of Architect from the Universidad de Buenos Aires. He is the principal of BJC Architecture Studio, specializing in architecture and urban design. Janches is a professor in the University of Buenos Aires, a guest lecturer at the Berlage Institute and a visiting scholar at the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American studies at Harvard University. Janches is the author of the book “Public Space in a Fragmented City” (Nobuko, 2012). Along with his research, Janches directs the Argentine office of the Playspace Foundation, a non-profit organization based in the Netherlands, with the mission of improving the life of children in slums. Under Flavio’s direction, the organization has carried out multiple physical interventions throughout Buenos Aires’ shanty-towns, focusing on improving the quality of public spaces.
