Arts of Africa and the African Diaspora: Dr. Jared Richardson
The Art History Department invites you to attend a lecture by Dr. Jared Richardson entitled, "Visualizing Oceanic Feelings: the Queer Horizons of Black Cinema."
The lecture will be held Wednesday, March 20 at 4:00p in ARCH 104.
Dr. Richardson is the third of three finalists in the search for a tenure track faculty member in the Arts of Africa and the African Diaspora. Dr. Richardson is a specialist in the visual and popular cultures of the Black diaspora. Richardson’s recent research, which explores how Black expressive culture negotiates the aesthetic, affective, and recreational capacities of water, unites film theory with art historical themes and methodologies to broadly conceive of the visual and affective connections between race, queerness, and kinship.
