Arts of Africa and the African Diaspora: Dr. Samantha Noel
The Art History Department invites you to attend a lecture by Dr. Samantha Noel entitled, "Tropical Aesthetics of Black Modernism."
The lecture will be held Thursday, February 28 at 1:30p in ARCH 404.
Dr. Noel is the second of three finalists in the search for a tenure track faculty member in the Arts of Africa and the African Diaspora. Dr. Noel is a specialist in the arts and visual culture of the Afro-Caribbean peoples, with an emphasis on Black modernism in the early twentieth century, particularly how tropicality functioned as a unifying element in African Diasporic art and performance.
