Distinguished Alumni Lecture: Susan Nalezyty "Jesuits on the St. Marys River: Plantation Architecture in the Context of a Global Christianity"
Dr. Susan Nalezyty lectures on the history of art at Georgetown University and works as the School Archivist and Historian at Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, where she recently researched and published on the history of enslaved people at this 220-year-old institution. She assembled a digital archive of all known primary documents related to slavery at this historic site. Dr. Nalezyty will share insights into the process of this public history project, which received national press coverage last year. She will also introduce her new book project, which seeks to deepen our understanding of early modern art, architecture and material culture in a global context. And she will present some early work in progress for that book.
