Assistant Professor Erin Pauwels will give a lecture on Cuban American photographer José María Mora at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C. in January. This presentation considers how the spaces of photographic portrait studios were constructed to facilitate the performance of diverse American identities during the late nineteenth century.
