Laurie Wagman Visiting Artist Series: Janine Antoni
Janine Antoni (RISD ‘89), is a visual artist and a 1998 MacArthur Fellowship recipient. With an innate understanding and appreciation of spirituality and the unique relationship one has with their own body, she creates uniquely distinct pieces that reflect our physicality through seemingly ordinary processes. Her work has been shown in the Whitney Museum of Art, Museum of Modern Art, and The Mattress Factory among several other acclaimed galleries. Her recent solo exhibition, I am fertile ground, was commissioned by Brooklyn’s Green-Wood Cemetery and was presented in its catacombs.
