Gillian Yee

Gillian Yee (they/she) specializes in global contemporary art from 1980 to the present. With an emphasis on looking at art in the United States through a diasporic lens, their goal as a scholar is to explore and expand the realm of queerness, transness, and “non-normative” identities within the discipline, thereby circumventing a traditional canonical understanding of art history.

Yee received both their M.A. in Art History and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Georgia State University in 2021. Their research has been presented through various conferences and symposia such as SECAC, SEWSA, Centre College, and Georgia State. They also interned at the Foundation for Hospital Art for several years and have consistently collaborated with artists and art organizations within the Atlanta area.
