MA in Arts Management

Mayret Rubenstein

Mayret Rubenstein (she/her) is a second-year student pursuing a Master's Degree in Art History/Art Management. Her interest is in how cultural assets contribute to economic and community growth. She operates at the intersection of cultural heritage and contemporary art expressions, the cultural travel industry, and art-based non-profit leadership.

Prior to joining Tyler, Mayret cursed the Art History program at the University of Havana and the Liberal Arts Honors Program at the Community College of Philadelphia. At the time, co-founded ARTempo, a non-profit contemporary art organization that focuses on showcasing and promoting Latin American art, fostering cultural exchange, and providing a platform for emerging and established artists from the region. At ARTempo, Mayret conducted extensive research, co-wrote, and produced two editions of "Cutting Edge Art in Havana," the companion book of the Havana Biennial that profiles 100 Cuban artists living and working in the Cuban capital. Additionally, she co-curated the exhibition "Over the Horizon" at Saint Joseph University, Philadelphia, which explored the immigration phenomenon and featured eight renowned Cuban contemporary artists.

Mayret received a B.A. in Art History with a minor in Economics from Temple University in 2022. She won The James F. DeRose Prize for an Undergraduate Art History Major and, at graduation, received the J. Arthur Khuen-Kryk Award for academic excellence, leadership, and service to the community.  As an undergrad, she interned for the Aspen Institute's Artists' Endowed Foundation Initiative and the Philadelphia Museum of Art. As an Art Historian, she has curated exhibitions, organized art events, and financially supported Cuban contemporary artists through the independent Art Safaris project created by ARTempo.

Furthermore, Mayret merged her passion for the arts and cultural travel by co-creating a unique venture called ATLA Group Ltd. where she specializes in creating immersive cultural travel experiences that showcase the richness of diverse traditions and artistic expressions. Through her work, she aims to promote cultural understanding, foster artistic appreciation, and facilitate transformative connections between individuals and communities worldwide.

Mayret has been accepted into the Fox Board Fellows program, where she will sit as a non-voting board member on the board of a local non-profit this year, gaining invaluable hands-on experience.
