PhD in Art History

Srđan Tunić

Originally from Belgrade, Serbia, Srđan (sir-john, he/him/his) is excited to join the Art History department as a PhD student.  

Since 2011, he has been working as a freelance curator, organizing art exhibitions and educational projects. He has a passion for researching and writing about contemporary curatorial practices, street art, contemporary art, comics, science fiction, art appropriation, interculturalism, queer theory, African art, entomological illustration, among other areas of interest. Srđan is one of the cofounders of initiatives Street Art Walks Belgrade, Kustosiranje / About and Around Curating, and Trans-Cultural Dialogues

At Temple University, he plans to continue his long-term interest in street art, graffiti, and murals, as forms of situational public art, and its intersections with gender and queer theories, activism, and semiotics.
