Artist Statement

I create image and time-based works which explore technologies of information, collective memory, violence, and love. Through a documentary and archival based practice rooted in film, performance, and craft traditions, I approach materials and their histories with a sense of curiosity and humor. My work investigates the boundaries and significances of documents, edges, borders, and discards across physical and temporal scales. My research process centers the scatter and organization of information; investigating the poetry of what has been lost and gained through translation and abstraction. Taking fragments of my own life to assemble and reassemble stories, I weave together new structures to create dialogue across time. Using underexplored and queer image making technologies, hacking proto-cinematic tools, and toying with experimental archaeology, I look back at the contradictions of history to expose and double-expose narratives of liberated futures beyond the capitalist present.
