While revisiting cultural artifacts from my formative years, the adage “branded at youth” became a recurring thought. This distance in time provides a new clarity, where changing perceptions are explored and nostalgia is challenged. Details and abstractions, appropriation and redaction, all have become methods of investigation when considering these pop-culture forms in a new light.

Cultural phenomena are fundamental to my work as an image-maker. Film, album covers, advertising, branding, the shiny, the flickering, the colors—you have my attention. What is being said and what else is communicated? Cultural noise and consumption provide ample material to explore, deconstruct, and highlight.

In my visual explorations, I provide a channel for engagement in which my subjects are presented outside of their expected context, paying attention to the nature of our cultural spectacle.
