Artist Statement
A comfort zone is where we are surrounded by familiarity. This place may not physically exist, is different for each individual, and can never be completely entered or exited. It is ever-expanding. When engaging in new territory, we may need physical reminders of our comforts, as a child clings to a favorite toy and adults suit-up by wearing lipstick or a silk tie. Sometimes what we use as a comfort also functions as a security, providing a sense of protection. This jewelry acts as armor for someone reaching beyond their zone. It simultaneously soothes the wearer and highlights their own confidence, beauty, and strength.
