Artist Statement

How we distinguish ourselves from others and create our own sense of reality has always fascinated me. I am particularly intrigued by the ambiguity inherent in conventional traps—those societal norms that often bind us, shaping our identities and perceptions in ways that can feel both familiar and constrictive.

In my latest works, I weave together personal narratives with larger social themes, exploring what I find that confines me as a human being, focusing on my family perspective/traditions and assumptions of societal expectations of my performance as a woman. My work serves as a reflection of my personal journey as well as a mirror for the viewer, prompting a reconsideration of how our individual stories contribute to a collective narrative, or how the larger picture affects one’s own.
