In their sincerity and strangeness, the works of Allison Hardt allow for contemplation and escape into an ongoing amorphous fiction created by the artist. Bits of nature and household are arranged, left to decay, rearranged as each composition is revealed, collecting in the oft neglected spaces of one’s floors, corners and sills.  Layers of oil paint accumulate on each surface, and in the gesture of the buildup, beckon thoughts of time, ritual and memory. Each object holds a singular significance, its materials felt and particular, allowing space for the poetics of the peculiar.

Hardt is currently an MFA candidate at Tyler School of Art and Architecture. She holds a BFA from Boston University and has exhibited in Boston, Seattle, Philadelphia and Venice, Italy.
