Through intricate and restrained drawings and sculpture, I engage with the domestic space and the desire for transcendence of mediocrity. Like the appliances, furniture, and tools found therein, the work encourages engagement from the viewer in order to enact functions (ranging from the mechanical to the diagrammatic), which examine the history, nature and manner of the above desire. There is something absurd and suspiciously artificial about a drive for betterment, and I am interested in bringing myself and the viewer to some understanding of why that is.
