Self-reference, the recycling of images, and an intuitive working process play key roles in the development of my visual vocabulary. The works point to complex ideas about the self and the universe, reminiscent of the way a diagram or map conveys information about the larger (or smaller) things they stand in for. The longer I work in the studio the easier it is for me to lose myself in the process. I am striving for a higher and higher level of an intuitive working process so that in some sense the work makes itself. My work is an ever-evolving intersection point between my interest in a scientific understanding of the world, and my own personal spiritual exploration. Reverence and awe for nature and the cosmos are absolutely essential concepts for me in life and in art. I believe strongly in the power of the individual imagination in relation to the external world.
