Arts of Africa and the African Diaspora: Dr. Rachel Newman
The Art History Department invites you to attend a lecture by Dr. Rachel Grace Newman entitled, "Spectral Realms: William Berryman's Revelatory Images of Nineteenth Century Jamaica."
The lecture will be held Thursday, February 21 at 2:00p in ARCH 104.
Dr. Newman is the first of three finalists in the search for a tenure track faculty member in the Arts of Africa and the African Diaspora. Dr. Newman is a specialist in the arts of the Afro-Caribbean peoples, with an emphasis on the creolization, hybridity, and syncretism in the colonial exchange between Europe, Africa, the Caribbean, the United States, and Latin America.
