Artist Statement

As an artist, I embrace the physicality of working with my hands. My process invites discovery through improvisation, experimentation, and play, thinking through making. After more than two decades working as an architectural designer, I fell in love with metalsmithing while learning to raise metal into vessel forms. I consider my practice a form of nurturing, in which I draw upon the patience and devotion honed while raising children. I use instinct to guide my hands to forge, raise, fold, and sculpt while exploring ideas about the rituals and objects that facilitate and celebrate human connection. The objects shaped by my hands are extensions of my body and to engage with them is to be held by my hands.
