José Ortiz-Pagán

José Ortiz-Pagán, a Puerto Rican artist based in Philadelphia, uses art as a tool for social change, fostering cultural regeneration and community empowerment through radical imagination and spirituality. His impactful work has earned him prestigious awards, including the NALAC Catalyst for Change Fellowship and the Artworks Grant from the Forman Arts Initiative.
In 2025, he unveiled From Soil to Stars, a commissioned installation for the Center for Latinx Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, exploring migrant experiences through astronomical diagrams and talismanic methodologies in a social justice context.

His work has been exhibited globally at the Trienal Poligráfica in San Juan, the International Printmaking Biennial in Taiwan, and the Bronx Latin American Biennial. Beyond galleries, his influence extends into academia, with lectures at Temple University, the Barnes Foundation, Haverford College, and the University of the Arts among others.
