Undergraduate Funding Opportunities

The Tyler School of Art and Architecture and Temple University offer need- and merit-based scholarships, grants and awards to incoming and current undergraduates. 

As institutions that actively foster diverse and inclusive environments, Tyler and Temple collect external financial aid opportunities—including those for nontraditional students, students of color, LGBTQIA+ students and students with disabilities—so everyone has a chance to realize their scholarly, professional and creative potential.

  • Scholarships and portfolio scholarships: Merit-based and need-based tuition scholarships, dependent upon available funding. 
  • The Week Here At Tyler (WHAT): An email newsletter curated specifically for Tyler students and features upcoming scholarship opportunities and deadlines. 
  • Dean’s Grant for Student Research: Provides funds to realize ambitious goals and support opportunities for current Tyler students’ work to be seen in the larger contexts of their profession.

  • Student Financial Services: Need- and merit-based scholarships, including those specifically for incoming, first-year students.
  • Temple Office of Scholar Development and Fellowships Advising: Assists in all stages of the application process for competitive internal and external, national fellowships. This office offers regular 45-minute workshops called Scholarships and Fellowships 101: Strategies for Finding and Winning Funding. 
  • Work-study: Allows a student to earn money in a bi-weekly paycheck to help cover non-billable educational expenses.
  • Creative Arts, Research, and Scholarship (CARAS) Program: Supports students engaged in scholarly, creative and research projects that contribute to advancing their field of study. Travel grants to present at a conference are also available.
  • Diamond Ambassadors Program: Provides funding to first-semester sophomore students each year, selected on the basis of strong academic record and high financial need to help support a for-credit study abroad experience.
  • Diamond Research Scholars Program: Provides a stipend for students to engage in a focused, mentored research or creative arts project during the summer and fall.
  • Merit Scholarship Summer Stipends: Helps cover costs for experiential learning outside of the classroom for eligible Honors students. 
  • Peer Teacher Program: Provides upper-level undergraduates at Temple the opportunity to experience the challenges and rewards of college-level teaching.
  • Study abroad scholarships: Provides funding for study abroad. Tyler students have been very well represented amongst students who have received these funds. Temple’s Education Abroad Office has a list of internal and external scholarships available. 
  • Symposium for Undergraduate Research and Creativity: Provides ambitious, intellectually-motivated students the opportunity to present and defend their original research or creative work among colleagues, faculty, family and friends.
