Tyler Community Sustains Vibrant Presence on the International Art and Design Stage Throughout 2021

In a recent issue of NAEA's  Translations,  Associate Professor Lisa Kay shares field research and techniques to better equip art teachers working with trauma in the classroom. Kay examines the ways teachers can help adolescents cope with stress and anxiety while encouraging creativity and resilience. Kay and co-author Donalyn Heise shared their research in their article titled Trauma-Informed Art Education: Caring for Learners and Each Other, which includes art-based strategies to support social-emotional learning.   Read More

2021 Metals/Jewelry/CAD-CAM Senior Exhibition

The Metals/Jewelry/CAD-CAM Program at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture is pleased to present its annual senior exhibition, featuring the work of ten undergraduate seniors who reflect the program’s tradition as a national leader in the discipline. The ten seniors—Christine Chang, Emma Coats, Muye Gao, Wyatt Nestor-Pasicznyk, Nina Reisinger, Merha Shahid, Julia Votto, Miranda Wager, Guannan Corina Wang, and Xiaofan Zhang—offers an excellent glimpse into the breadth of materials, processes, and concepts explored in the field of contemporary metals and jewelry. In Tyler’s Atrium, guests can explore work made from a combination of techniques, from traditional like champlevé enameling and wood carving, to high-tech like 3D printing and laser cutting.  Read More

Tyler’s Representation Strong Among InLiquid’s 2021 Wind Fellows & Wind Young Fellows

Alumni of the Tyler School of Art and Architecture represent more than half of the recipients of InLiquid’s 2021 Wind Fellows & Wind Young Fellows—awards given for artistic excellence to ten outstanding artists, and to offer them optimal career support. Doug Bucci appointed as Program Head of Metals/Jewelry/CAD-CAM

Doug Bucci, assistant professor at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, has been named Program Head of the Metals/Jewelry/CAD-CAM Program. Bucci, who earned his MFA from Tyler in 1998, is also a practicing artist who uses his personal health to influence his innovative jewelry works. He utilizes data-mapping and 3D-printing technologies to explore and display biological systems and the effect of disease on the body. Read More
