Research Assistants

Tanner Adamson

Tanner is a graduate student in the Planning and Community Development program. He started at the CSC as a research assistant in the fall of 2015, working primarily with GIS.

Tanner has a B.A. in Geography with a concentration in GIS from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a minor in Urban Studies. He has experience working at a transit agency in Durham, NC and Allentown, PA. Tanner's planning interests include transportation, water resource, and environmental planning. In his free time Tanner enjoys disc golf, cooking, and exploring Philadelphia.

Leonard Bonarek

Leonard is in his last year of the Planning program, and joined the CSC as a research assistant in the Fall of 2015. He is currently working on an inventory of US cities that have legally recognized initiatives regarding urban agriculture and other aspects of sustainable food systems. Leonard also recently completed work as a policy intern with the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia. Leonard was an integral part of the team that created the “Bike Lane Toolkit,” which aids concerned citizens in advocating for better bicycle facilities in their communities.

Leonard has spent 10 years in the maritime engineering field. During this time he gained an understanding of complex mechanical systems, and also had the opportunity to visit over 20 countries. After this period, Leonard worked for 7 years with children from underserved communities in a variety of roles. The combination of these two experiences led Leonard to pursue a career in planning. In his free time, Leonard enjoys learning languages, home remodeling projects, cycling, and trainspotting with his 3 year old son.

Mike Levitt

Mike is an undergraduate Community Development student. He joined the CSC at the beginning of the fall 2015 semester to assist with the creation of an updated Temple-Villanova Sustainable Stormwater Initiative (T-VSSI) webpage.

Mike’s background is in the arts; he took many studio drawing classes while attending Montgomery County Community college before transferring to Temple. He originally transferred into the Fox school of business, but found Community Development to be much more to his liking.

Ted Mullen

Ted is a graduate student in the Planning program who joined the CSC as a research assistant in the spring of 2014. He has been primarily working on the Upstream Suburban Philadelphia Cluster Watershed Protection Plan as part of the Delaware River Restoration Fund.

Ted has a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, concentrating in environmental and water resource engineering. His experience includes site design and analysis, stormwater BMP and green infrastructure design, watershed modeling, and erosion & sediment pollution control design. Ted’s planning interests are rooted in sustainable, resilient development and topics relating to urban water resources, transportation, and energy management. In his free time Ted enjoys playing music, various forms of cycling & bike racing, and anything that takes him outdoors.
