Metals/Jewelry/CAD-CAM
Tyler’s is not only the largest Metals/Jewelry program in the country, it is also the only one in the world with an emphasis on CAD-CAM (Computer-Aided Design–Computer-Aided Manufacture) at all degree levels. Students learn to design jewelry and objects of great beauty and utility using state-of-the-art tools, technologies and materials ranging from gold, silver, aluminum and bronze to modern titanium and plastics, create rings, pins, earrings, bracelets, furniture, toys, and other functional objects and product design. MJCC is is housed in a 5500 sf facility with 56 bench top torches, three burn-out ovens, crucible, centrifuge, vacuum forming, computer lab, two 3-D printers, electroplating studio, blacksmith studio, majors area, graduate workroom, tool room, woodshop, metal shop, laser cutter, laser welder, CNC milling, and various stations for buffing, polishing, grinding and finishing.
