Artist Statement

This work consists of sketches and dioramas made from recycled or found materials. It explores power dynamics within familial and non-familial structures. It directly addresses trauma responses, mental health complications, sentimentality, and traps both physical and conceptual.

The work is shaped as a narrative where cartoon characters The clown, Star, Lester and otehrs address all the above. The purpose of the work is to reach its audience who can find relatability to these subjects and feel seen and heard. When the universe sees that one’s people are not there for them, it sends in a stranger. The clown and Star are those strangers.
