The Imploring Surface: Work from the 2018 Summer Painting & Sculpture Intensive at Tyler School of Art
The Department of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture at Tyler School of Art is pleased to announce the opening of, "The Imploring Surface", work from the 2018 Summer Painting and Sculpture Intensive at Tyler School of Art.
The Intensive, often known as the SPI/SSI, is a four-week summer immersion program run by the Department of Painting, Drawing and Sculpture for artists interested in developing their work in a challenging and supportive environment. The program is a non-credit, post-baccalaureate-style residency suitable for BA and BFA seniors and recent graduates aiming to hone their artistic and intellectual skills, for students building a portfolio for application to graduate school, as well as professional artists seeking to strengthen their abilities and expand their outlook.
Graduates of the Summer Painting and Sculpture Intensive have gone on to show at prestigious galleries across the U.S. and Internationally as well. Additionally, former students of the program have been accepted into many prestigious MFA programs including: Hunter, Yale, RISD, UT Austin, UCLA and of course, Tyler School of Art.
This year's exhibit will feature drawings, painting and sculptures from Sophia Anthony, Kady Epley, Danielle Fretwell, Todd Jones, Beverly Keefer, Maura Koehler, Tisch Mikhail Lewis, Cal Ridley and Tania Quarashi.
"The Imploring Surface" runs from June 25 - June 28, 2018 and a reception with the artists will be held on Wednesday, June 27th from 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM. Refreshments will be served.
