The following guidelines have been developed to assist PAFA transfer students.

Determining Your Degree Pathway

  • The 126-credit undergraduate, on-campus programs available to PAFA students include:
  • For PAFA students majoring in or intending to major in painting, drawing, printing or sculpture, you can move into the above comparable programs and work with Tyler Admissions and Academic Advising to complete your degree on your anticipated academic timeline.
  • For PAFA students majoring in or intending to major in Illustration, you can move into the Painting BFA program and work with Admission and Academic Advising to explore a range of options for completing your undergraduate degree on your anticipated academic timeline or a revised academic timeline.

Admissions Process

  • PAFA students will need to submit an official transfer application (modified); application fee and portfolio will be waived.
  • All credits completed with a grade of C or higher at PAFA will be accepted toward an equal or comparable degree program at Tyler. Admissions will work with students to determine if any other transcripts will be needed.
  • PAFA students must be in good academic standing, meaning a term and cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above, with no outstanding disciplinary sanctions or pending disciplinary matters.
  • For students entering their senior year, Temple will waiver its requirement that 45 of the last 60 credits toward a undergraduate degree be taken at the University.

Support Services

  • Tyler will work with transferring PAFA students, faculty, advisors, admissions, and financial aid staff to support each student in preparing for transfer, including the development of individualized degree plans.
  • Tyler and Temple have academic advising and student support services to ensure the success of transferring PAFA students.
  • Temple staff will make reasonable recommendations to PAFA students regarding available housing options under university policies.
  • Tyler’s Admissions Office will provide PAFA students with individualized information regarding applicable tuition and other costs associated with completing their undergraduate degree at Tyler. Financial aid may be available only for students who completed the FAFSA form for fall 2023 and spring 2024. Additional funding may be awarded on case-by-case basis.
