The Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Sculpture at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture helps students develop creative, intellectual, and practical skills in expansive, state-of-the-art facilities and prepares them for successful careers as artists and professionals in a range of industries.
Tyler Sculpture students enter a lively community of innovative artists, thinkers and creators who engage contemporary practice in a myriad of forms. Our students develop technical proficiency in digital fabrication, woodworking, and metalworking, and hone their conceptual and research skills as they pursue a range of pathways that includes socially-engaged work, public practice, and traditional object making.
The curriculum emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration and experimentation. Through studio courses and field trips, students explore art-making strategies in social and cultural contexts and are pushed to develop a personal voice. Tyler offers access to the region’s vibrant contemporary art scene in Philadelphia and nearby cities like New York and Washington, D.C. Students graduate to become socially-conscious practicing artists and entrepreneurs in disparate fields, and find employment in industrial design, fabrication, education, theater companies, museums, galleries, and more and earn placements in top graduate programs.
