Tyler Architecture's Bachelor of Science in Architecture is a 4-year pre-professional degree program that prepares students for the Master of Architecture program.
Design studios are central to the Bachelor of Science in Architecture (BS ARCH) curriculum. Sequential studio courses serve as courses for the comprehension and synthesis of academic and professional knowledge and for the integration of thinking and making. Dedicated studio, woodshop, digital fabrication, and lab spaces allow for in-house drawing, modeling, and digital visualization. A sequence of rigorous technical courses, in building technology, environmental sustainability and structural design permeate the design studios. Two writing intensive courses in modern architectural history and in architectural theory are required. Students choose 15 elective credits, and international study at TU Rome is accommodated and encouraged in the spring of the third year or the fall of the fourth year.
Graduates are qualified for a variety of positions in architecture and related fields for which a professional degree and registration are not requirements for advancement. Additionally, students may utilize this degree toward the goal of architectural education at the graduate level. The four-year Bachelor of Science in Architecture degree program prepares students for the Master of Architecture degree program.
