Temple's Scientista Chapter Shares Collaborative Exhibit

Temple’s chapter of Scientista, a national foundation built around empowering women in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine (STEMM) fields, recently curated an open-call exhibition for STEMM-related artwork. For students like Hajra Sohail (CST ‘23), a biology major with an art minor, this project was an eye-opener to the kinds of creative collaboration that non-art disciplines can enjoy. Projects were varied, incorporating an array of mediums like painting, drawing, sculpture, and fibers.  Read More

Tyler’s Representation Strong Among InLiquid’s 2021 Wind Fellows & Wind Young Fellows

Alumni of the Tyler School of Art and Architecture represent more than half of the recipients of InLiquid’s 2021 Wind Fellows & Wind Young Fellows—awards given for artistic excellence to ten outstanding artists, and to offer them optimal career support.Wind Fellows were nominated by experts in the art field to be considered based on the excellence of their work. Tyler Alumni Receive Prestigious USA Fellowships

Amber Cowan (MFA ‘11) and Erin M. Riley (MFA ‘09) have each received a 2021 USA Fellowship. Cowan and Riley are among the 60 recipients of storytellers, shapemakers, movement builders, and culture bearers practicing today. As their press release states, the 2021 USA Fellows were “chosen for their bold artistic vision and significant impact. On May 23, 2019, in the Tyler School of Art and Architecture’s Green Hallway Gallery, Philadelphia Sculptors hosted the opening of its 20th annual 5 into 1 exhibition (on view through June 23, 2019). The show features the work of some of the best up-and-coming artists who have graduated from five local institutions: the Moore College of Art & Design, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the University of the Arts, the University of Pennsylvania and Tyler.
