Temple Rome Expands Rich History with Campus Move

Temple's Rome Campus is relocating to Piazza di Spagna, a historic area in the Eternal City that offers students a more immersive cultural experience surrounded by landmarks, museums, cafés and shops. For almost 30 years, thousands of Tyler and Temple students have enjoyed the temporary homeliness and comfort of the campus, located in a 15th-century palazzo, the Villa Caproni, situated in the historic heart of the city near the Piazza del Popolo. The location, across the Tiber River from Rome’s Prati neighborhood, has provided students with a beautiful and culturally immersive setting for their studies. Read more Read More

Tyler GAID Professor Honored Among Women Leading the 175th Initiative

Every year for Women’s History Month, Pennsylvania State Rep. Mary Isaacson, in coordination with community leaders and advocates, honors exceptional women living or working in her legislative  district who have led efforts to improve the daily lives of Pennsylvanians. The 2024 cohort includes Abby Guido, Associate Professor of Graphic and Interactive Design. Isaacson, who represents Philadelphia’s 175th State Legislative District, selected Guido for the recognition, “due to the actions [she has] taken in shaping the everyday lives of Pennsylvanians, future of our neighborhoods and our great City” through her community-focused volunteer work. The district includes Fishtown, Northern Liberties, part of Center City, Society Hill and Queen Village. Read More

Tyler GAID Students Win Big at Flux Awards

The Tyler School of Art and Architecture’s Graphic and Interactive Design program was widely represented at the 2023 Flux Student Design Competition, with a total of 24 selected projects—more than any other program represented in the competition."It's gratifying to see Tyler represented so well in the competition," said Abby Guido, Associate Professor of Graphic and Interactive Design. "It shows that our focus on creativity, technical skills, and critical thinking is practical. Dionn Reneé (BFA '04) Wins Design Contest with Sony's "Woman King" Film

After entering a design contest hosted by Sony Pictures and Columbia TriStar Marketing Group, Dionn Reneé (BFA ‘04) was named one of 10 “Selected Creators” worldwide whose work was used to promote the 2022 film Woman King starring Academy-Award winner Viola Davis. “I thought that my chances of winning weren’t high, but when I saw what the movie was about — empowering women, fighting for freedom — I wanted to submit no matter what,” Reneé says. “Everywhere the film went, the artwork was used for the official marketing campaign.”  Read More

GAID Presents "Unplugged Design" with Gitte Kath

Gitte Kath, a decorated graphic, textile, and set designer, will present 120 theater posters from the renowned Teatret Møllen to Graphic and Interactive Design students on September 30 in discussion with Professors Scott Laserow and Dermot Mac Cormack. She will discuss her layered career in the visual arts and her design practice, and answer questions from students about the professional design field. Kath's panel is open to the public and will begin at 6:00 pm in the lobby, followed by an opening reception.  Read More
